COMBINED VINTAGE SPEEDWAY PICNIC DAY PRESS RELEASE.
The four major Vintage Speedway Associations in NSW will come together on Sunday
(TBA) on the spacious grounds of The Museum of Fire, 1 Museum Rd.
Penrith NSW, for their annual Combined Vintage Speedway Picnic Day.
The static display will contain all major sections of restored race cars and bikes which took part in Speedway racing in what is now referred to as The Golden Era of Speedway, the
1960s and 1970s. Speedway bikes and Sidecars, featuring the famous J.A.P. & JAWA
engined bikes, the famous and very rare Vincent HRD outfit, Vintage Compacts,
sometimes referred to as TQs, will be on show along with some of the more well known
vintage and classic Speedcars, also known as Midgets, which raced at the Sydney
Showground and Westmead Speedways in that era.
To compliment these machines, vintage Super Modifieds will also take their place in the line up. The Super Modifieds were the forerunner to the modern Sprintcar. The display is set up around 8.30 am and runs through to approx. 3 pm. All facilities are available, its a great family day out, so come along and meet the owners and some of the Speedway riders and drivers who actually raced some of these machines. There is no admission charge for the Speedway
display. The Museum of Fire is open for inspection on the day as usual and proceeds
from the admission charge to the Museum go to charity, so please support this good
cause. For Speedway display enquiries:
